This summer the trio has decided to learn something new! One of our favorite things to do is get wet! We love to take baths, we love to play in our water table and we've even played in the sprinkler a couple times this summer, when it's really hot outside! Another thing Mommy and Daddy want to do sometime this summer is go out in a row boat with the trio. So naturally the next thing to do is take swimming lessons! We want to learn how to be safe around the water and we want to be able to swim in case we fall in or something! We have life jackets and everything but it's good to know how to swim too! We had our first lesson today and it was really fun!
When we were born Mommy and Daddy loved giving us baths in the NICU and they always said that Katelynn and Melissa would be their natural born swimmers. Apparently they were partially correct!
Check out how we did:
Katelynn really liked the experience and it didn't take her long to catch on to what we were doing! She loved putting her face in and getting all wet! She tried very hard to blow bubbles, but we'll have to practice that a bit more! She didn't get the concept of blowing and rather drank instead! Oops! She loved "jumping" off the edge into waiting arms and when it was time to get out of the pool was requesting "jump" again! Pretty sure Katelynn wants to go back tomorrow! Good thing we have 2 weeks of lessons for her!
Ethan was tentative about the experience at first! He wasn't sure about this giant "tub" of water. It took him a little bit to get comfortable with the idea, but Grammy held on and they got through it together! He eventually warmed up and was splashing himself with water. By the end of two weeks, he'll probably be ready for more lessons!
Melissa was our least adventurous of the group and will take more time to figure this "swimming" thing out! She wasn't sure about any of it and held tightly to anyone who would hold her. Mommy and Melissa clung to the edge some of the time and just eased into the whole experience slowly. The pool was 4ft deep and since Mommy is only 4 foot 11 inches, it was a bit of challenge to hold Melissa and swim at the same time! The other part of the time Auntie Shelley helped with Melissa and she began to get comfortable with the water. While Auntie Shelley helped with Melissa, Mommy got to swim around and see the others while they were swimming and she got to take a few pictures! Not so sure Melissa is ready to go back tomorrow, but perhaps she can be persuaded with more toys, bubble blowing and splashing.
Overall the first day was a success and Mommy, Auntie and Grammy are looking forward to taking the trio to lessons tomorrow with the Nanny, while Daddy sleeps after working all night! Stay tuned for more swimming lesson updates! We'll let you know if we learn anything really exciting! Perhaps Mommy will take a video soon!
