4th of July 2013...

We survived our 3rd celebration of Independence Day!

As some of you know, these past couple weeks have been rough for us! We live really close to a lot of places that like to set off BIG fireworks long before the 4th of July, so we've been hearing VERY LOUD booms at our house for awhile.  We really don't like loud noises because we don't understand what they are all about and our systems just aren't equipped to handle them like some people. They are quite scary for us! Mommy (and Daddy on the weekends) have been trying very hard to take care of us, but the loud booms are proving too scary for us and we've had to call in reinforcements a couple times! This past week we had a visit from Auntie Shelley and Uncle Dominic during one of our loud boom scares and then Grammy had to rescue us one night at about 11pm! Because Independence Day is supposed to be a celebration Mommy and Daddy have been trying to find creative ways for us to be able to celebrate like everyone else while staying safe and happy.  One way we celebrated this year was by making our very own FIREWORK shirts! This was a quiet way to do fireworks this year! No noise except for us saying "BOOM" as we splattered paint all over the shirt!
So yesterday was the OFFICIAL day for celebration and night for fireworks! Mommy and Daddy decided to try a different approach than the previous days!

Since we had a rough night the night before, when the nanny arrived in the morning we had already been up for 3 hours! Early morning at 5am! Luckily our nanny arrives at 8! Anyway, when she arrived, she helped mommy give us breakfast and get us dressed in our special 4th of July shirts that we made the day before!

After we were all dressed we got loaded in the car and headed to see Grammy and Boppa at a place called "Tumwater".  They told us we had to stay on the sidewalk by the street behind this silly white line! They explained to us that we were going to watch something called a "Parade"!  We liked that (except a few loud booms)! We watched all the cars go by, there was some music to dance and there were these people called "cheerleaders". We liked when they walked by and gave us high fives! Katelynn and Melissa really liked their pom poms! After the cheerleaders walked by we got a special visit from a couple of them and they let us touch and wave their pom poms around! That was really fun! We clapped, ate our snacks and had a really great time at the parade!

When the parade was all done it was time to go home to say good-bye to our nanny for the night so she could go have fun with her family. Mommy and Daddy got us all ready and put us down for a nap. That didn't last long! We were still scared from all the loud booms of the night before so we didn't want to sleep in our cribs, so Mommy suggested we go out for a bit.  We stopped at the mall and found that our favorite burrito place was closed for the holiday so we settled for McDonalds and headed home with our fries and chicken! We haven't eaten good the last few days with the heat and the booming so Mommy and Daddy decided to treat us to our favorite thing: Fries and Chicken Nuggets! We ate them all! YUM! After we ate our special treat Daddy came up with a really creative idea! "How about a camp out in the living room?" he suggested! Mommy gladly agreed so daddy set up our really neat cot tent in the living room for a 4th of July "camp out" trio style! Grammy came to stay with us so she got to camp with us! We had a blast! So all in all, our 4th of July turned out okay and we look forward to the next opportunity to camp out!
