You wouldn't know she was very special to us the way we greeted her at the door! (We decided screaming was the appropriate method of salutation!) Apparently, screaming has become a great method for us the last several weeks for communication, greeting and just general principle in our house! We are working on that! Hopefully we figure out other forms of communication soon!
Anyway, back to the update about our last month!
This last month brought many new experiences for us!
- We had our 3rd celebration of Independence Day and we learned all about LOUD booms! We do not like them! We spent 2 nights in our living room camping in our tent to protect us from those scary noises! We really wish people would leave those loud booms to professionals and far away from our house! We did have a good time doing a little art project to have our own little 4th of July celebration! We made our very own shirts! We had a great time splattering paint everywhere with our Nanny and our Mommy! We loved going to the parade wearing our shirts and talking to some really nice cheerleaders also! Fun was had by all! Tent camping in our living room wasn't so bad either! :) During Tent camping Mommy and Grammy read to us, we watched Baby TV (Mommy and Daddy don't let us do that very often!) and we had a great time jumping around in the tent! We even slept a little!
- Katelynn visited GI and got a new medication to enhance her appetite! We're hoping she'll learn not to spit out her food, but rather eat it so she can get bigger! So far the medication is helping a little bit and we'll check back with GI in August to make sure she really is benefiting from what we are doing! She will continue reflux medication as well!
- We had our follow up with our Occupational Therapist! Everyone is doing really well and the OT was very impressed for the most part! She even commented that it was fun to see "normal" babies once in awhile like us! She did however send Mommy and Daddy a sensory profile to fill out on Ethan just to make sure his sensory needs are being met appropriately and he doesn't need any extra support in that way. She also watched Katelynn eat to make sure that her GI issues weren't actually a food aversion issue! It doesn't appear that it's aversion so we are thankful! Melissa just charmed and wowed her to pieces so we were ecstatic about that! Usually Melissa is the one who gets a poor review, so that was a nice change of pace!
- Another fun thing we did this last month was celebrating the 2nd birthday of our buddy Eliza! She's actually our mom's cousin's daughter which makes her related (2nd cousin? first cousin once removed?) Anyway, we went to her house and had a fun "pool" party with Sesame Street goodies and yummy cake! We loved it! We can't wait for more play dates with her!
- Our biggest excitement this month was SWIMMING lessons! We posted about our first week and you can read about that here. We even made a little video for you to watch! We'll be posting about the 2nd week of lessons soon! Stay tuned! The picture above we have our new backpacks and matching luggage bags! We used the backpacks for the 2nd week of swimming lessons! Aren't they super fun and cute? :)
