We're almost 2 year olds: 23 Months!

Today marks 1 month until another BIG milestone in our lives! We will be 2 years old in exactly one month! Can you believe it? Time flies when you're busy and having fun! We've been doing a bit of both. Here's what we've been up to this month!

This month Ethan has discovered more words! He loves to ask people to reach for things.  He also loves to ask people to read him a story. "book, book, book" has become his favorite thing to ask Grammy for when she walks in the door. Unfortunately, Ethan was not exempt from the flu and just recently had his 2nd round with the flu. He's a strong little boy and he is winning! Hopefully he'll be back to his sweet normal self soon! Ethan is our sensitive one who loves to cuddle when he doesn't feel good and sometimes even when he does feel good and he's just tired.

Over the last month Katelynn has gotten taller! She has discovered the power of talking and using some sentences.  She is beginning to name shapes and colors and she knows many of her main body parts.  She is very interested in people and the fact that they have the same body parts as she does, especially eyes. She loves to poke our eyes and say eye or poke someones ear and say ear! She is beginning to show interest in Potty training so we have purchased our first potty seat for the trio. Katelynn is very much into Elmo so naturally her potty seat she picked out is Elmo. Katelynn has been on prevacid now for a month for possible reflux symptoms in hopes that would increase her appetite and thus help her gain weight.  She will visit GI tomorrow to find out if the prevacid did indeed increase her appetite enough to give her the weight gain she needs. Mommy and Daddy have noticed a difference in her eating. We just hope it's enough! Katelynn is the leader of the bunch and loves to tell her brother and sister what to do and where to go. Katelynn's best phrase of the month was "Watch a moonie". The trio rarely gets opportunities to watch movies so Katelynn decided when she had her turn with the flu, she should have a movie evening.

Melissa has been packing away the food this month and we are happy to report that her reflux symptoms seem to have subsided.  We believe now that if she is spitting up she probably is sick.  Every once in a while she will have difficulty swallowing but otherwise she has greatly improved.  Melissa and Katelynn are fighting for the top girl weight spot.  Melissa is also gaining on Katelynn for height! When the trio turns two we'll be curious to see if Melissa can overtake Kate in weight and/or height. Melissa is beginning to say a lot more things and is beginning to realize that screaming doesn't get her what she wants. She's better off with words! :) Melissa completed her last round of Synagis for RSV last week! We are so glad that she had this protection this year, but we are also glad that the vaccinations are over! She doesn't like to get shots and we don't like that she needs them! Melissa is the clown of the group! She loves to give us her cheesy smile or run from mommy when the camera is out. She is often caught with funny faces or running from the tickle monster!

This past month the trio:
  • celebrated their 2nd Easter
  • Participated in their first TWO Easter egg hunts
  • Survived 2 rounds of the flu
  • had their 2nd dental check up (Healthy teeth!)
  • began using training toothpaste
  • Got a sweet little playhouse for outside that they love!
  • Decided that all dogs names are Harley except Ethan who called "Socks" my sister and brother in laws dog FEET!
  • were given their carseat blankets to start practicing using blankets in bed
  • have had Mommy all to themselves all night a few times (no extra help for mommy because we sleep through the night now!)
  • fell in love with Elmo! Melissa even named her special owl Elmo!
These are just some of the things we are up to this month! Thanks for praying for us daily! In one month we'll be 2 years old!  Watch for special posts coming around our birthday! We've got lots to celebrate!
